Gritting

When the temperatures start to fall Highways work 24/7 to monitor the roads and their 23 gritters are sent out day and night when conditions dictate.

Although public finances are stretched, they are committed to gritting key routes - that's around 1,300 miles of roads - to help keep the county moving.
